Happy Xmas From Our Family To Yours...

...And do be sure to jingle all the way (nobody likes a fucking half-assed jingler, you dig?)

(And of course, donations are always welcome - if you're feeling generous, Paypal.me and Gofundme.com links in the right sidebar under my name... Thanks, and Happy Holidays!)

Le Petit Vendredi Noir

Ahh, that bathroom... So in need of renovation/replacement (the whole house, really...)

...Lookin' sharp, larger little brother (who puts a lot of love into the News Coulomb, and is passionate about the future of electric vehicles.)

Crossing the bridge...

Dang that's not my best picture (I look like I've just come back from an all-night rave, and I'm 40! - Which I am, of course...)

Who's texting at dinner (partially obscured: my mom's dog-bitten face; it looks like I threw something at her in a fit.)

Delicious offerings at Black Bear Diner, Willows (just off of Interstate 5 - thank you Kory and staff!)

...Finally, to get our sundries in the dark (PM, that is...)

HAPPY HOLIDAYS, READERS!

Cornbread At Dawn

(I made the cornbread gluten-free... Tomorrow, Eric will be home, and we'll have turkey, gravy, peas and corn, and cornbread... Happy Thanksgiving, errybody!)

Shopping Day in Willows (ZIP 95988)

Can't go shopping on an empty stomach...

...So fish and chips at Black Bear Diner...

...Where, by the way, the Marine Corps Reserve has a Toys For Tots campaign - be sure to drop off new, unwrapped toys! (Willows Black Bear Diner, off the Interstate 5)

Then on to Walmart...

...All the boys/Think she's a spy/She's got/Bette Davis eyes...

...AY! But they've still got this often-not-good ground beef from their Clackamas, OR interest, Interstate Meat on sale... Now in bigger sizes than EVAR! (I highly recommend against buying it, btw...)

And here we are, checking out...

...And we drive past the fall almond orchards...

...Only to arrive home, glared at by ungrateful cats...

Ahhh, dinner!

Sunday Is My Fun Day

San Francisco: Financial District, Civic Center (Asian Art Museum and City Hall in lights after dark.)

Many of us see at least our spam folders (and plenty, our inboxes), flooded with e-mails our good sense knows originate with those who have no compunction about defrauding the well-intentioned, the (for whatever reason) embarrassed, the hard-up, the isolated or lonely, those who are not yet wise to the tricks employed, or those who are developmentally disabled or aren't yet mature.

These criminals seem to operate without conscience, and seem to think doing wrong turns to the vulnerable is acceptable; they rely on public apathy and the reputation law enforcement and the government often have for an unwillingness or failure to act.

If you or a loved one has been taken in by any such scam (and the scammers might be in another state), please know that plenty of people and organizations are around to offer their assistance. Here are a few contact options:

https://www.fbi.gov/contact-us (Internet Crime Complaint Center)
https://www.justice.gov/doj/spam (Justice Department,  spam)
https://www.irs.gov/privacy-disclosure/report-phishing (For those scams reputing to be the IRS contacting you)

IT IS MOST IMPORTANT THAT YOU NOT BE DISCOURAGED BY ANY CONTACT YOU HAVE WITH OTHERS IN WHICH YOU ARE TOLD YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER, AND DO NOT BE SHAMED: MOCKERY OR UNWILLINGNESS TO HELP ON THE PART OF THOSE YOU TALK TO IS NOT THE FINAL WORD - KEEP TRYING. IF THAT HAPPENS WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT, INSIST ON SPEAKING WITH ANY SUPERIORS, CALL BACK, WRITE TO THOSE DEPARTMENTS OR INDIVIDUALS HANDLING OVERSIGHT. YOU KNOW WRONG FROM RIGHT, AND YOU DESERVE JUSTICE.

The rest of Sunday better be a breeze. Tons of lamb from Jenny U. (yay!), might bother Joyce next door for some of those ripe olives so I might cure them (I prefer salt to lye, myself), and... IF YOU'RE FEELING SINISTER, JUST LOVE BELLE AND SEBASTIAN RIFFING, OR FOR ANY OTHER REASON (SPITE IS A GOOD ONE, AMONG OTHERS), FEEL FREE TO DONATE TO MY GOFUNDME, PAYPAL, OR VENMO LINKS TO THE RIGHT-->>

95988 ZIP (Willows, California - Just Off the I-5 Corridor in Glenn County)

Physical therapy, Black Bear Diner delish, lots of shopping, and... PHOTOGRAPHY!

Pretty painted stone, found in situ...

...Hoosegow...

...Mixed with Starbucks hot cocoa and creamer, the Guy Fieri chocolate mint for Keurig can't be beat!

Mom's all settled at physical therapy (no, she's not blind, just kind of dickin'...)

...So I head afuera...

...RILLY?

Pause for the cause.

I'm 40 and funny-looking, and in love with a dude whom I haven't seen in almost a month...

...Anyway, to the back alleys of Willows!

Historical buildings, cool shopping, and that radio tower!

REAL JOURNALISM! Tim and company really take it to the mat! A newspaper with heart and a purpose...

Dandelions make me think of drifters and weeds...

Can't go shopping on an empty stomach, and can't go wrong with Black Bear Diner - all over Northern California and Oregon!

Play Misty for me, Mom!

I've had this for breakfast, and it's pretty bomb.

The reuben is excellent, and habanero sauce goes great with onion rings, IMHO (I wanted the Waldorf, but I'd already eaten chicken salad the night before.)

I must say, despite my malingering grudge against their Clackamas-based Interstate subsidiary, the #02053 store is clean and orderly, and seldom out of what I want or need...

Check-out is often a breeze. (And our cashier was que linda!)

On the way home, we pass Thunder Hill Raceway. They have a restaurant, and a racetrack for your car. (No, they do not have Nicole Kidman in her DAYS OF THUNDER hair.)

Beautiful pastureland (a lot of Northern California looks like this, from Sonoma and Solano to Butte, really...)

...Finally, home to lovely Stonyford, California, home of the Stonyford Museum, Hester Ranch (organic! Beef!), and an entrance to Mendocino National Forest...

_-_-_

(Yesterday, we said good-bye to an old classmate, Chris Buchanan, who passed away due to cancer. RIP, Chris - I'll always remember you from my youth as a super stand-up guy. You will be missed.)
