A short, sweet primer for those of you just learning the importance of journalism and minding your civic duties (that is, knowing what the government is up to), or maybe just renewing your earnest concern after a spell of jadedness and cynicism (#TrumpLoeil, anyone?): Whenever you hear talk or read news (usually the latter) about diplomats being "expelled from the U.S." (almost always, a sitting president makes the announcement), it means that agencies such as the CIA (the "ma'ams" and "sirs" in suits as far as active duty personnel for example do jibber-jabber) have already flagged in a particular way key embassy personnel or persons of interest (foreign nationals, of course) associated with a given consulate, and want those people (seldom if ever mentioned by name, but mentioned as existing in the news - there are solid security reasons for this - trust and believe) removed from the U.S. ENTIRELY for their own physical safety*; these persons are often extremely valuable to the national security apparatus, among other more base concerns, and are often friends of the operatives whose day-to-day jobs include, let's face it, honestly making the world a better place.
So, the people being expelled aren't exactly being punished, nor is some pajandrum-lite, scolding statement being made by the POTUS. And for those of us used to how messy the ways our quotidian civilian existences run themselves, this is often a fine set-up for the men and women involved, most of whom believe in and strive for great things in this world, such as comity, fairness, and harmonious coexistence among the U.S. and other countries of the world!
(I do, above, put a high gloss on an actual world that is truly fraught sometimes, and there are bad hombres who can be rounded up and so "expelled" for our sake rather than theirs, but come on... Right? These are all pretty intelligent, professional, non-fruity people I'm writing about, so forget that horrible LETHAL WEAPON II dude from the S. African embassy in Los Angeles... It's not that sort of Hollywood vibe, dig?)
*Yeah, I know, technically an embassy is foreign soil and these people have diplomatic immunity, but also (heh, Madamoiselle Thomas, when it comes to sad phrasing in colloquial English, but I digress...) the "better safe than sorry" rule so often employed by government doubtless will apply in these expulsion cases... Please bear with those who know us as their charges to keep on this tip, as they typically know their jobs and can be trusted, at the very least to be of the agencies employing them!
PS Yo, Leah, you're so fucking lame, you'd think it was called The Square, not THE PENTAGON! LOSER! (Whee! I could have picked on you in junior high! Think about all the trauma and process and therapy!)

On Security Measures (Some Backfire, Natch...)
And nothing on "Paranoia" spoken out loud as a "shut-down" word:
Karen Melton-Stewart, today's sort-of heroine...
(One moral of the story: it's not fun to be a tattle-tale, but it could save lives! You might be the only one with the correct thing to say in the room!)
Stonyford, California (formerly "Stony Ford," or "Smithville," IIRC in Wild West days - always and to this day unincorporated - when my family's property was among other things passed through by itinerants with their own portable foundry), ZIP 95979, was pasture land, as well as cowboys and Indian territory - well, Stonyford has always been interesting to describe to others in terms of its geographic location: it's essentially, in this day of Google Earth and Google Street View, a town of 139 souls (as far as the census goes) just on the Glenn County and Colusa County borders, in the Western mountains, about an hour North of Clear Lake.
Now, San Francisco is home to a lot of non-Northern California people, and the name of "Colusa," named after an already semi-mythical Chief Colus, is pretty much unheard of by a city that has a lot of historical ties to it; the OG who shoeshines his box with his windex downtown might know of East Park and have fished for bluegill and catfish there, but Scott Wiener's staff sneers the name "Stony-ferd" quizzically, even though the stone from which the Ferry Building was built was quarried right here in Sites, California, off the I-5, and then bustled down the Sacramento River as it runs through Colusa, California, to the delta and beyond on steamboat; VIP families had second homes in the city of Colusa, or would weekend at, say, the Olympic Hotel on Eddy to catch theatre shows back in the day...
(Speaking of the former Olympic, it is now converted to low-income apartments by TNDC. I lived in unit 212 for 4 1/2 years; in retrospect, it was a fine personal security measure to tell neighbors at social events that I was from "Mendocino County, up North"; nobody, among the pinay, Chinese, or old white gay dragons had heard of Colusa - okay, maybe Michael had - but also, it was a WEIRD FOUR AND A HALF YEARS, and truth be told, I was just using old counter-espionage trickery: it's more convenient to namedrop a County that has immediate, everywhere recognition, and I WAS living in a holding pen for elderly CIA assets: Chinese dissidents, pinay who'd lived in Riyadh, divinity majors... You see where I'm coming from THERE. No disrespect to Colusa County pride!)
Note to special needs: do you know OCD people? Sometimes they annoy us, doing necessary stuff, but too often, and the wrong way... But we can learn a little lesson from our obsessive-compulsive friends and family: remember, not only be careful of phishing Web sites (ask a friend what phishing with that spelling of "ph" is, if you can't look it up...); and don't tell vital information (banking stuff like balances or your banking institution's name) to strangers; be sure to change your passwords and pin numbers on occasion: passwords for e-mail, social media, and banking you might change every two to three months; pins for ATM and Debit cards: change those, too, sometimes - work out a schedule with your social worker/counselor!

Perennially, almost traditionally, seniors and the disabled are taken horrible advantage of by scammers and grifters, so here's a public service announcement:

SHIP'S SECURITY: "And remember: when going to the ATM or bank to get cash, take along a buddy you can trust! (Ideally not a redshirt yeoman, who might die on the way there or back!)"

Sites Reservoir Project
Well, I haven't really talked to any of my old school chums about it (many of whom, of course, are probably finding their lives HUGELY about the project -- and some of those may even welcome the distraction from their quotidian, mundane dramas, LOL!), but as it is, through January 2018, according to one schedule, engineering feasibility will continue to be the main thrust of any conversations about the Sites Reservoir and the niceties and conceivable horrors of the undertaking, engineering-wise....
Well, I too am del Norte (mainly), and though much of my online time is spent all around the world, I'm living (for now) solidly 4.5 miles from the Glenn/Colusa County line (and may end up back in San Francisco in a few months....) Not only are there going to be perennial environmental roadblocks (as there should be -- naysayers along the lines of John Muir, as such), but Sites is an historical area -- there was enough of a hassle, Laughing Lady Thalia, when the briefly re-opened quarry (origin IIRC of the stone from which San Francisco's Ferry Building was cobbled together) had to shut down as a consequence of destroying significantly historical stone building that had once been a stop on the Pony Express, just outside of Sites... But this paragraph was meant mainly as a selfish, off-the-cuff, 3AM digression...
Anyway, here is a list of Web sites one needs to familiarize oneself with before going all Monorail Salesman at the Springfield we call Maxwell, California, during a meeting at the old Well's Fargo near Caldwell's gas station and mini-mart (Highway 99, and railroad tracks -- can't miss it! Only a minute off I-5):

(To assist those who are gimlet eyed vis-a-vis the press: KCRA is now a Hearst affair, and no longer Kelly broadcasting, but maintains that old Sacramento conservatism; The Bee remains in the McClatchy stable, and browses in familiar pastures ever so conventionally...)
- http://www.water.ca.gov/storage/docs/NODOS%20Project%20Docs/Project%20Map&Features.pdf
(Nuts-and-bolts, and no hurtful brass tacks: It is clear just driving from Maxwell to Lodoga, through Sites, that several dams would be required to establish any proposed reservoir... I had some pics on my Amazon cloud but can not at the moment retrieve them -- what matters such in this day of Google Street View?)
ALTERNATE SEARCH TERM: North of the Delta Off Stream Storage
IN THE INTERESTS OF ETHICAL BLOGGING: I personally am in favor of the project, and know that this reservoir is necessary to the continued stability and viability, ultimately, of the world economy itself, to put it flatly -- I can support my thesis well enough in a rumble and/or bar fight. I do qualify my support of going ahead past the feasibility stage with an express desire to see some road -- the highway bridge through the Florida Keys comes to mind -- maintained from that I-5 exit to the Grade...
IN CASE YOU THINK I'M FLIGHTILY PERPETRATING IN AVOIDING IMPORTANT-TO-YOU STUFF: I shall make time to find out about this affidavit I must sign at the SF superior court -- my fellow San Franciscan's sworn testimony is most definitely mine, as well, I'm sure, but the law works the way it does, and I AM poverty-stricken, at that (HELLO, RIGHT? All those long faces at St. Anthony's dining hall earlier this Spring... GRR!) And of course, the awful diamond pendant I sold to Maxferd's (a harrowing story or several, I'm sure)... I will be following up!

瓜田李下
I know that Dr. Havlir said my December numbers looked as good as ever, and that the (EXPENSIVE, GURL!) Atripla appears to be working (she has a few times suggested switching up meds, but that it was unnecessary, and that if I was partial to the Sustiva in the Atripla -- particularly the vivid dreams, which I like -- she saw no reason to change...) Nevertheless, this shit DOES look awfully weird:
Maybe I just have a hard time navigating the MySFHealth portal? I don't know, but I can't seem to find any record of my HIV numbers.... VERY ODD.
(BTW, June 5th will be HIV Long-term Survivors Day, I've heard tell... Good luck, all!)
UPDATE: If you didn't know, now you know:

A Prayer and Cry For Heather Ratto...
...(formerly of Lodoga, California, and as of some years ago, Paso Robles -- ahora donde no se...) Hope you're still alive and well, young woman, and my heart continues to beat for you. Bless you and God carry you always.

America, Fuck Yeah!
America, snap out of it. Get your shit together, stop saying one thing and doing another, stop being affable shitdicks who are so lovable yet so loathsome, and do something positive with your lives. Do more good works. Have the courage of your convictions. Stop it with the cheap pride, and stop selling others short. Be more generous. Stop saying you respect and honor and love, and start respecting and honoring and loving. Stop being ruled by fear. Learn to cope with reality as it is, not as you wish it to be. Clean your own house first. Cut it out with the hypocrisy and infuriating delusions. Really, you know what the right things to do are and they're not that hard to do. Get with the program! xoxoxo - The Antichrist
PS Last year, Giving Tuesday made a measly $68 million compared with Cyber Monday's $3 billion this year. You goddamn well know I'm right.
PPS Robert Dear is a transgendered leftist. And a loner. Pass it on.

When One Is Oppressed, All Are Oppressed...
...Including the oppressors: "We are a nation of many nationalities, many races, many religions, bound together by a single unity: the unity of freedom and equality. Whoever seeks to set one nationality against another, seeks to degrade all nationalities. Whoever seeks to set one race against another seeks to enslave all races. Whoever seeks to set one religion against another, seeks to destroy all religion." - Franklin D. Roosevelt.

The Inferior Sex
I've been accused of objectifying men, which is ridiculous: Men love to be objectified.
I've been accused of manipulating men to my own aims, which is ridiculous: Men are for better or worse ruled by their cocks, and so am I.
If you're interested in a date, I like them rough, nasty, no-necked, tattooed, and possessing fucked-up teeth.
But truth be told, I like all men, I don't care how much of an asshole, douche bag or troglodyte you are. All comers are welcome. I can't wait to pull off my Penelope act...

Why I Blog
"Practice any art, music, singing, dancing, acting, drawing, painting, sculpting, poetry, fiction, essays, reportage, no matter how well or badly, not to get money and fame, but to experience becoming, to find out what's inside you, to make your soul grow." - Kurt Vonnegut

Quickly Sharing A Good Article...
...On why Joe Biden would be a bad president:
"Just for starters: Biden is a war hawk, a drug warrior (one of the very worst), and committed to "no changes" in old-age entitlements that are not only unsustainable but rob young, relatively poor Americans to give stuff [to] old, relatively wealthy ones. And then there's the logorrhea and the plagiarizing..."

Personal Gossip About A Private, Reclusive Woman II
"...Of course she and her son are both stunners. He's a dreamboat, if not too bright. She's brilliant, and looks just like the Devil from BEDAZZLED. But her intellectual growth has been stunted by the fact that she's never been talked to like that -- you know, properly and laterally. It's always kiss up, kick down with her. She's got flatterers, courtiers, yes-men, but no gadflies or jesters. She could stand to be told, 'Uh, no bitch, actually, that shit you do is not okay. You need a reality check.' Somebody really ought to before it's too late and she gets her just desserts. There's so much low-hanging fruit, it's probably her wealth and popularity that keep her so delusional. Well, honey, that gravy train won't run forever..."
